We are "not for profit" 501(c)(3) horse rescue

Important News

We will only board an Amaryllis Rescued horse.

Rescued horses full board $500-$650 monthly

Rescued ponies full board $250-$350 monthly

Lessons:
English, western and dressage...we do not jump our horses. Lessons are taught primarily by Christine herself who has been an instructor for 28 years and excels in her ability to instill confidence in the nervous beginner, while advancing the skills of the seasoned equestrian.  Understanding the horse is foremost.  Becoming a fit, confident and secure rider is the attainable goal.

Extraordinary equines teamed with an exceptional instructor raise funds for the horses who remain without sponsorship.  100% of the profits ALWAYS belong to the horses.

A few notes before your first lesson:

THE RULES!
ASTM/SEI certified equestrian headgear must be worn along with proper hard bottomed boots with a low heel. Half or full chaps are highly recommended and offer a fantastic grip. Wear clothes that fit properly. Be quiet and attentive around the horses. Release forms are reviewed and signed and payment is made prior to beginning a lesson.

Since 1989 Amaryllis Farm has strived to be the safest riding facility on Long Island. We have achieved that goal with a less than 1% fall stat. Following are the measures we use to enhance the safety and security of our students:
To learn to walk without a leader, the rider must show competency in navigational skills as well as braking and must be at least 7 years of age, there are exceptions, but few.
To learn to trot, the rider must show competency in posting at the walk while steering without harming the horse’s mouth. A basic 2 point position must be maintained for 2 minutes. All trotting is first taught with a ground leader or on a lunge line until stability is achieved as determined by the instructor.
To learn to canter, the rider must show competency, as determined by the instructor, in trotting figure 8’s while posting without stirrups for 10 minutes.
Horses or ponies are chosen for the rider by the instructor and requested horses or ponies may not be the safest match as determined by the instructor.
Ages 3-6 have 30 minute maximum mounted time.  Ages 7 and up have a 60 minute maximum mounted time.
The instructor may, at any time, stop the lesson for safety reasons.  The students are expected to behave in a mannerly, attentive fashion.  To this, there are NO exceptions.

We excel as a foundational riding facility.  Amaryllis is where you want to be if you are looking for a lesson program that focuses on balance and security while stretching and strengthening your entire body. Unity with the horse is achieved ultimately and further pursuit of riding ambitions more easily attained.

We do not teach jumping, however we work extensively with caveletti.
