THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS YOU CAN HELP!
First of all, we don’t ever want anyone to feel that
ANY donation is too small. Donations are what keep Amaryllis going! If 20
people send in only $5.00, we can feed a horse for 10 days! Those small donations
coming in regularly are what keep us afloat! Secondly, public awareness is so critical to the
horses and their future. So many people are unaware of the inhumane conditions
these animals endure, and how many are sent to slaughter each and every week.
We feel that educating the public is the only way to one day halt this terrible
fate for them. We need regional groups formed in different locations across
Long Island to hold meetings and plan small fundraisers and lecture series so
that we can accomplish this goal. Please contact us if you can get involved in
your own community! We can direct you to people who have done it successfully
for some tips on getting started. Get the kids involved!! Kids love horses and all
animals, and they have had a huge impact in our fundraising efforts. They are
also the future, and early knowledge is the key to a promising tomorrow. Your
local High School can form an ANIMAL RESCUE CLUB. This has been done by the
Cold Spring Harbor Jr./Sr. High School, and the club has really taken off.
There are many different avenues for fund-raising at that level. Kids love to
hold bake sales, run a car wash, have a massive garage sale, and sell candies at
sporting events. The profits raised go to animal rescue organizations, and the
kids get much desired leadership roles and community service hours for their
college application resumes! The smaller kids can hold a “trot-a-thon” at their
school. They get sponsors and they have a certain number of laps that they will
trot or walk in order to raise money. We have a program in place for this
school-wide event. Contact us for details. In short, there are unlimited ways that you can
help! The level of commitment on your part is up to you! We need volunteers,
and your creativity can help us to provide a future for the horses. If you have ideas, we are happy to hear them!
