Ginger
ADOPTED
Move Arrow Over Picture to See Ginger when She
First Arrived at AFER

Ginger
1977 tattooed thoroughbred mare.
Ginger arrived to the safety of AFER's quarantine
barn in February of 2006.
This fine lady
probably bore numerous winners for the racetrack before completing her own successful career.
Millions of dollars are made off good racehorses,
yet she was disposed of
without even a second glance. She was so starved, there was nothing but
skin and bones. And her skin was coming off. Rain rot.
Sickening. Numerous vet visits. Ginger became the Purina Senior
showcase mare. After her 5 month progression, she was televised and
is now shown to veterinarians at meetings throughout the country.

Update September 2007:
Ginger has been adopted and remains on at the AFER facilities working part
time teaching potential horse lovers how to care properly for a horse!
She is sound and we will this month finally look her up her tatoo and see
who she really is. What fun!

Update February 15,
2008 The Jockey Club has confirmed that Ginger is
"How Dry Cyane" now 32 years old! If we were not there to save this horse she
would have ended her life in a horrific way....after all those years of
working for humanity....unreal. She is currently fine and happy and
her best friend in the world is Sierra. They enjoy 24 hour turnout
with a run in shed, so arthritic issues are not much of a worry, they do
not stand around much. Support us so we can be there for the next
"Ginger"!
GINGER HAS ENTERED THE
SANCTUARY~jUNE 1 2009 WITH HER LOVE, SIERRA!

Please also
consider helping us get 2 more into Sanctuary by donating toward the cost
of fencing and shelter! We have a waiting list of horses. Our horses.
