There are several horses who make their
home here with us at Amaryllis for various reasons ranging from injuries
to age. We have a continual waiting list of horses trying to get a spot
with us. Some for the short term, but most for the long term. We wish
more than anything to be able to offer these horses full sanctuary. If a
horse has a good quality of life.......they deserve their earned
retirement! If injured on the job, but still able to live out a happy
life, they earned their retirement! We strive to care for all Amaryllis
horses as if they were the only horse on earth. The pampering never
ends. Never do the horses know a moment of worry. As Gideon tells the
other horses "I have a family now and my family tells me they love me. I
love my family!" We are Gideon's family and it is not relevant to us that
he may never be able to be ridden again. He was kicked in his knee
serving man. He is 21. He is without a doubt one of the greatest, kindest
horses alive. He is what all little girls dream of. Please help us
achieve our goal of a full sanctuary for those gentle spirits like
Gideon. He was saved from a mexican slaughter. The thought
makes us shutter. It is better to donate to an organization that you
can walk in the door and see where the funds are going, be able to reach
out and touch the horses.
