Ellie Mae

"Ellie Mae" is a Belgian/Molly Mule who was working for an Amish family.  She is sickle hocked and could not take alot of strain.  She is only 10 yrs old.  She fears humanity to an extreme.  She was beat bad.  She is now adopted, thankfully and lives with Jed on a magnificent farm Amaryllis manages.  It never ceases to amaze us how humans can be so 'inhumane".  At least the animals we get will know love from that point on.

Please bear with me on the website updating!  Now the photos are coming in in all different sizes!  Sorry!

SHE REQUIRES SOME PROFESSIONAL HANDLING AS SHE WAS VERY ABUSED AT HER FORMER HOME. SHE IS A GOOD MULE AND ONCE SHE TRUSTS YOU IS WILLING TO ALLOW YOU TO HANDLE HER.  SHE IS GOOD FOR THE FARRIER AS WELL.  PLEASE CONSIDER GIVING THIS SWEET GIRL A HOME TO CALL HER OWN.  SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH.

Update: Ellie Belly is now at the main barn, she was able to move in when Will Turner was adopted and moved out.  She now bathes and crossties and is coming along quickly as they all do here at the main barn.

Ellie is staring at a wild turkey that hopped onto the fence (pictured below)

Ellie Mae has come so far it is amazing.  She is a genuinely happy girl these days, but is suffering from the arthritis caused by her former abuse.  We would love to put her on Adequan and donations would be greatly appreciated!

Summer 2009

Ellie Mae is worlds apart from where she was upon arrival.  She now stands and waits in her stall every morning to get (((hugged))) before she goes out for the day.  She has heard she is beautiful more times than Marilyn Monroe ever did and she actually is beginning to believe it.  Ellie Mae bears the damage done mentally and physically, but it seems a far shadow these days.  She trusts us substantially.  The pasture and freedom have allowed her some comfort from the arthritis caused by the crazy workload forced upon her.  The special diet all Amaryllis horses thrive on has given her an amazing coat.  Ellie is special and one of the most grateful horses to be allowed to live out her life in a place such as the Watermill Estate.
