Abraham

ADOPTED

Born 1986

22 year old Quarter Horse type gelding.

Adorable and sweet.
His Owner died and the sister afraid of horse ended up chaining him to a fence...for something like a year!

See the halter marks on his face?

He was rescued before shipping to high yield slaughter auction. Crazy people.

This horse must have had a nice owner because he is sweet and looks deep into your eyes when you talk to him.

September 6, 2007 Abraham is the sweetest, most fun loving horse in the world!  He is so very appreciative of any and all attention.  He now can handle wearing a flysheet with no fear and he is healthy and content.  Abraham will spend his days with us.  He is so special!  Photos to come!

January 2008 Abraham was lucky enough to win over an awesome sponsor!  He can now wear blankets and no longer has anxiety attacks.  He knows he is safe and loved here!  He has a new best friend...a girl scout camp horse we saved from a feedlot that ships direct to Mexico!  His name is Trooper.

Update: November 20, 2008  Abraham has had his share of difficulties.  He was distressed so I had Lymes pulled on him and sure enough he had a very high count.  A month of meds saw some improvement, but not complete so I had blood pulled for cushings.  Sure enough...he had an extremely high count as well as evidence he is also insulin resistant.  Special diet now!  Abraham is one of our most appreciative and trusting souls and we adore him.  He is doing SO much better already.  His best friend in the world these days is Karma.  The two walk around as if they are attached by velcro.  Keep Abraham in your thoughts and prayers.  It is his face that will adorn the sign for the SANCTUARY.  I really want him to get to live the dream.

Update: Abraham is doing so much better, though he continues to have medical issues.  He has cushings and requires a daily medicine and he has arthritis which can be helped with a series of Adequan shots.  He needs additional support.  Please direct funds to him when you donate!

Comanche and Abraham have been friends a very long time now
