Heartbreaker

Resident!

Heartbreaker showing her branding at the feedlot.  She was saved in September of 2005. This gorgeous girl is the product of an abusive, horrid half witted "trainer".  The rope marks remain on her legs and poll.  She retains the fear that at some point she will be killed.  Several professionals have rendered her "too far gone".  At 3 or 4 years of age, how could you be "too far gone?"  AFER intends on giving this sweet mare all the time she needs to recover and put the past behind her.  She tries SO HARD to do as you ask, it is almost unreal.  She WANTS to be okay and she WANTS to do what you wish.  For those reasons, she will be given the chance to prove that LOVE undoes hate.  Light kills darkness.

Update September 2007: Heart has her own 3 acres of 24 hour turnout with Mr. Bear.  She is in a quiet and safe facility at AFER and she grows in her trust and contentment.  She is healthy and sound and happy and will perform a number of exercises from a slight hand signal. Quite a horse. Just needs some more time.

Wow, time flies.  It is now 2010.  Mr. Bear died tragically and Heartbreaker's adoptive owner returned her.  She had been apparently unwilling to allow herself to be caught. Ever.  She lived for 2 years on 20 acres with Mr. Bear and adored him.

She is back and unsound.  Looks like she had foundered.  Her feet had not been done and mother nature wore them down nicely, but she was immensely overweight.

Heartbreaker will remain on as a life resident and is seeking sponsorship.
