Angel and a Professional Model at AFER

Angel, her 10 year old Mother and her 15 year old Grandmother were sent together to the feedlot to be fattened for slaughter.

These 3 thoroughbreds were heavy and would bring a fair amount to satisfy the appetite of a foreigner.

Angel was able to be saved. She was transported to AFER for healing and training.  Angel would soon be seeking her own home.

Update September 2007...Angel is thriving with her adoptee family.  She is within 5 miles of AFER and is very much loved and cared for!

When Angel was first brought to the rescue she was extremely sick and needed a lot of care to recover. With all the help put in, no one would ever realize that she was in such bad condition as she was before. My Family adopted Angel in 2005 from Amaryllis Farm and has later on brought her to a new home close by. Now Angel is a curious, 17 hand, 6 year old thoroughbred mare that is just the sweetest. She might seem like the quiet, mind-her-own business kind of horse but once you really get to know her she has so much personality and is just so funny. She has come a very long way and it amazes me how great of a horse she has become. I love her so much.
